Stephen B. French graduated from Washington and Lee University with a B.A. in Political Sciences in 1991. Mr. French was awarded his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law in 1995. He began his practice in Lakeland, Florida as a commercial litigator with the established firm of Lane, Trohn and joined the Tampa law firm Bush Ross, P.A. in 2000. Mr. French joined Gibbons | Neuman in 2020 to continue his commercial litigation practice.
Mr. French has earned an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the highest professional rating obtainable and is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the United States Middle District Court of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has tried cases in numerous areas of the law as well as prosecuted and defended appellate matters in both State and Federal Courts.
Mr. French is an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where he has served as a Vestry member and was Chairman of the St. John’s Episcopal Parish Day School’s Board of Trustees. He also served on the Washington and Lee University’s Alumni Board and was President of the Florida West Coast Alumni Chapter. In his spare time, Mr. French enjoys fishing, golfing, hiking, and traveling. He is married to Kim, a fellow W&L graduate, and has two children, Bradley, a W&L undergraduate, and Carter, an undergraduate at UNC-Chapel Hill.
