Medicaid has rules about assets and income. Now, on the assets side there are ones that are countable, and non-countable. So you can have your house. You can have a car. You can have your personal belongings and a little bit of life insurance. And those you can keep. Those aren’t going to count against you. In terms of other assets, an elder law attorney can help you plan so that we can save as much of those assets as possible, and get you qualified for Medicaid.
